EMG Mk VIII Conversion of a HMV Junior Grand C.1909

Pictures courtesy of Tom Barnard.

  • EMG offered to covert customers old gramophone to the then new EMG sound system. They also offered conversion kits so customers could do the conversion themselves.
  • This conversion dates from around 1928/29. The HMV Junior Grand was the cheaper "Grand" with storage for records.
  • Apart from the conversion kit, the motor was also upgraded to the superlative Garrard Super Motor.
  • The conversion was pictured in Frank James' The EMG Story on page 35.
