    Post-War EXPERT timeline.

    • 1946: EXPERT became a Limited Company with directors. The first sign that they were concerned about the future of the business and everyone's position in that business.
    • 1957: Michael Ginn had a massive stroke and died in 1959.
    • 1957 July: The EXPERT name was sold off to Wolsey Television Ltd who in turn were owned by the Gas Purification group who also owned Grundig. Ester Ginn and David Phillips remained directors.
    • 1958: EXPERT were doing demonstrations and being advertised by their new owners in showrooms all over the country. I suspect for EXPERT to be successful the new owners would have needed to inject a large investment into production and sales. Grundig on the other hand, with their European success and backing, did become a hugely successful company just a few years later.
    • 1959 October: The conglomerate, (Gas Purification group) was disbanded and, "the former directors have now bought back their old interest".
    • 1960 June: "MRS. E. M. GINN, late of Expert Gramophones Ltd., regrets that, due to circumstances beyond her control, she is no longer a director of the above firm".
    • 1960 July: David Phillips moves to Devon and starts to advertise his services. "AUDIO SPECIALIST AND CONSULTANT.—Repairs- and modifications.—D. Phillips (late Expert Gramophones), St. Anthony, Murley Crescent, Bishopsteignton, Devon (Tel. 326)"
    • 1960 August: Three advertisement appears in, The Gramophone, all on the same page and next to each other:
EXPERT GRAMOPHONES LTD. 78 BALHAM HIGH ROAD, LONDON. S.W.I2 BALHAM 4022.
      David Phillips in Devon.
EXPERT PICKUPS LTD (Managing director: T.G.Fenton in Bayswater.)
    • 1960 October: “I did hear comparable quality to the Decca and E.M.I. in the dem. room of the newly-formed Expert Gramophones, which has become detached from the Gas Purification group and has been re-joined by Dave Phillips."
    • 1961 August: EXPERT GRAMOPHONES LTD advertise the AUDIORAMA Unit and a whole new range of equipment is designed by David Phillips, as technical advisor and consultant.
    • 1963 January: Last EXPERT Ad. Audio Works: 197 Laleham Road • Staines • Middlesex Telephone: STAINES 53761
    • 1964 August: AUDIO SPECIALIST AND CONSULTANT.—Repairs and modifications.—D. Phillips (consultant for Expert Gramophones), St. Anthony, Murley Crescent, Bishopsteignton, Devon (Tel. 326).
    • 1966 May: AUDIO SPECIALIST AND CONSULTANT. — David Phillips, St. Anthony, Murley Crescent, Bishopsteignton, Devon, technical adviser Expert Gramophones Ltd.
    • 1971 April: Last Ad for David Phillips in, the Gramophone. AUDIO SPECIALIST AND CONSULTANT— David Phillips, St- Anthony, Murley Crescent, Bishopsteign- ton, Devon. Tel. Teignmouth 5326.
    • EXPERT PICKUPS LTD. Tom Fenton used to edit the Monthly New Letter for EMG. He also made the Expert tone arms and the Mono M/C cartridges.
    • 1970: Expert Pickups was sold off to Mr Wyndham Hodgson who personally took over the repair of these pickups. Expert Pickups still survives today making high end stylus and cartridge parts for discerning customers, worldwide. Expert Stylus & Cartridge Co. info@expertstylus.co.uk. +44 (1372) 276-147
